Of course, I think my son is absolutely the most handsome little guy in the world. Obviously I am not alone in that thought. Friday was a school field trip. As they go to a private pre-school and kindergarten it is the parents responsibility to take them to the field trip. I enjoy these outings because it is fun to see the other kids, talk to the teacher and meet the other parents.
This particular field trip was for the entire school. As my husband is now home he was able to go as well and we split up so each kidlette could go with there own class. Our son has talked about this one little girl since last year and how he likes her. She plays Star Wars with him and another little boy. A few weeks ago she fell playing soccer and hurt her arm. He has been concerned about her arm and weather or not it hurt. She was on the field trip as well and he was very excited to point her out to us. Then it happened,,the cuties conversation! She comes up to my son and told him “I was thinking about you last night, and I think you are cute”. Both my husband and I were holding back the giggles! Latter I asked my son if she told him he was cute, he blushed and said “yes” then I couldn’t help it and asked if she is his girlfriend. He got this silly little grin and said “yes”

Last Sunday my husband decided to be creative in the kitchen. He found a recipe for Ginger Chicken in our Korean cook book and thought he would take a stab at making some. He gets all the stuff together and begins cutting, cleaning, and prepping the meal. Meanwhile the kids are blowing grape scented bubbles in the other room. Here is what happened next:
“Uhoo, Daddy, the bubbles spilt and I don’t know how it happened” says our son
“Well then clean it up” says there Daddy and returns to chopping up vegetables. Things get really quite and my husband thinks to himself “its a little to quite in there,,that can’t be good” So he goes into the other room to see whats up. Well the kids had gone upstairs and gotten all the wash cloths and soaked them in water. They were ringing the water out on the floor (hardwood) and making the bubble’s into suds.
“What are you two doing?” says my husband
“We are washing the bubbles off the floor daddy” says our son
“You can’t get them up like that,, you have to dry them up, so go upstairs and get a towel to dry the floor up”says my husband.
Again he returns to the kitchen confident that everything will be fine. A few minutes latter he hears hysterical laughing in the other room and goes to check it out and guess what he sees??? Both the kids and every single towel in the house on the floor. They spread them out and were rolling on them, pretending to make “towel angles”, wrapping each other up and all sorts of things. At this point my husband is laughing so hard he is crying and at the same time thinking “oh, man now I have to wash and fold all the towels again” which he had done the day before
The floor was definitely dry when they were done and there is now a very “shiny” area were the bubbles spilt.

Heaving a child with speech and developmental delays can make life interesting and fun all at the same time. Our daughter has a processing problem called Apraxia. Until she was three she barley said 10 words. She was never interested and we never successfully got her to use sign language. However, she has developed her signs for certain things that only we understand. But it helps her communicate with us. Her brother on the other hand can understand a lot of her “jargon” and they play out things together. It is quite cute. She has been in speech therapy since she was two, but once we had a firm diagnosis and started seeing a private therapist things are taking off.
This has been a little difficult for our son. Now she can ”rat him out” when he does things he is not supposed to. She can also express how she feels and what she wants to all of us. We can hear them playing and talking to each other. It is wonderful that they enjoy playing and talking to each other. Last night as we were tucking them in, she says to our son “Ni Ni Paker, I uve eww”. It just melts our hearts!

A lot of folks know my husband just lost his job of 8 years. His last day was last week. We are fortunate that I have a job that is in critical need of people, so picking up overtime is easy. The catch is that he has to take care of the kids. Not that that is a problem. He is a very involved dad and has always had the kids to himself on weekends. But now he has to learn the weekday routine that I have done solo for the last two years. Yesterday and today I have shown him the routine for getting the kids ready and off to school. Including the pick up and drop rules at school. It reminds me of the old move Mr. Mom, when the dad drops the kids off and goes through the care line wrong. I don’t want my hubby hearing “YOUR DOING IT WRONG”. I had to show him were the speech therapist office is for our daughter’s weekly session and how to get her back over to the school. Simple things that I do without thinking but he has never had to do this. I found myself laughing as he wrote every thing down on a list. The list is in the car and I was given instructions not to throw it out until he says its ok.
Tomorrow will be his first day solo. I honestly think he is nervous. So today he practiced getting the kids up, dressed, fed and our daughters hair done. We have our niece two days a week so she was thrown in to the mix today as well. He got them all to school safely and home in one piece. Friday could be difficult though. Our son has a field trip in which a parent has to accompany him and our daughter has farmer day. So he will have to get our daughter dressed as a farmer and get our son and himself ready for the field trip.
It will be interesting to see what I come home to!

My little girl loves her pets. Especially our 13 yr old Italian Greyhound Vinnie. She keeps him by her side at all times and he is really good with her as well. Everyone in the family knows this and knows how much she loves animals. So my older sister and brother-in-law sent this video of dogs swimming in a public pool in Colorado.
Of course she loved the video. While watching it she is looking around saying “doggy, were doggy” of course Vinnie is close by and walks on over to see her. She squeals “doggy, wimm, doggy wimm”. Now every day since she saw the video she gets up, gets her bathing suite and looks for the dog. Poor guy, he is not found of water, so it’s a good thing we don’t have a pool. But I have a strong feeling he is going in the tub with her soon!

As the summer wound down I began to realize that my oldest would actually be starting Kindergarten this year. Were on earth did the time go? He was just a baby yesterday? Now he is counting down the day to turning 6!
Now that the initial shock of his starting kindergarten is over and we are settling into the school routine I am finding out how much fun we are going to have. Each morning he bounces out of bed ready for school. He can’t wait to go to school. The ride home from school is filled with his little voice telling me all about what he learned. They are learning about how each letter sounds in preparation for reading. He is learning how to write his letters. But most importantly they are learning about insects. Yesterday he informed me that and insect has a “head, thorax and abdomen and six legs”.
It is a wonderful thing. Watching his mind expand as he learns something new every day. I am in awe and wonder at how he grows and changes each day. I am humbled at how lucky I am to get to experience this stage of his life.
So now I start a new stage in life,,,the mom of a Kindergartner, and next a first grader. I plan to indulge in each phase of his life and treasure every minute of his precious life.
