The day to day life as a mom to little children

Wal-Mart Trip, Randome Act of Kindness, Made a new friend :-)

October 30, 2007

Well it is not unusual for us to be at Wal-Mart. I think they should just take what is left after from my pay check after I pay the bills .  If we can go with out the kids we do because we can get done quicker and there are fewer “add on’s” However, today we had to take the kids.
The trip started with a random act of kindness on my part. Not trying to “toot my horn”, but being a nurse I sort of watch things differantly. I saw this elderly women sitting on a bench and “rocking” to try and pull up on her cart. My first thought was that cart will roll and she will go down and break something. So I walked strait to her and asked if she needed help getting up. I helped her up and she was so thankful. I have all kinds of “warm fuzzes still” :-)
So we did our shopping and were waiting in line to check out when one of the folks from the Eye glass dept walked by. He just kept staring at us and the kids, so I of course though he was thinking those kids are not behaving (I was letting them play with the toy’s at the check out stand  ) As we start to leave we both notice he is standing outside his department starring and smiling at us. So DH and I think “hmm he sees us with glasses and must want to sell something” So as we walk by he says “Excuse me” I am of course thinking here it comes “The monthly PROMOTION” and then he says “Umm Excuse me are they adopted?”
We smile and say yes. He says “I knew it my wife and I are in the process of adopting” Ok, so now we stop and start talking.  Turns out his wife is Korean and they have been waiting for over 1 yr for a daughter from China . They had actually talked with Bethany about Korea when they started but then started learning about the changes that were about to happen with the program so they chose China instead. It was great!
So our usual trip to Wal-Mart turned into a “Random Act of Kindness,,,,Make a new Friend” kind of trip! Oh, we got our weekly groceries to ;-)
A very Happy Vicky!
