“Where Baby?”
June 28, 2008Those two little words these day’s sends a chill up my spine and a howell from my son! Why, it is very simple, but takes some explanation.
About 3 weeks ago we became the proud parents of a Dwarf hamster my son calls Fuzzy Wuzzy. As far as rodents go he, or she is a cute little critter. We had promised our son a hamster after we redid the flooring and had the den set up. We both had hamsters when we first married. We know they make a lot of noise. So the plan was to set up a nice hamster habitat in the den. Well the floors are done but not the den. My SIL called a few weeks ago and said they were getting a dog and could not have a dog, 3 Ginny pigs and a hamster. So we took the hamster. The kids loved it, and spent a lot of time watching him run around.
Now to further explain why these words make me quiver you have to understand my daughter. All her dolls and stuffed animals are simply named (baby) she will them up and say “aww cute baby”. She will put whatever is “baby” today in the crib cover it up and then say “shh, baby sheep”. During the time when we first got Fuzzy her “baby” of choice was a stuffed “Po” (panda from Kung foo Panda) She wrapped him in blankets and cuddled him constantly.
So when she came down when we were getting ready for Taekwondo and said “Were baby?” I naturally started looking for were the Panda was. I found the panda and said “here he is hunny”. However, that was not it and I didn’t know until she started crying and said “NOOO, Baby, baby out!” and pointed to her brothers room. “I shoory mommy baby out” Then it dawned on me, she was talking about the hamster! This led to 45 min of chasing the poor little thing around my sons room to catch him.
She has now done this 3 other times. So the statement “where baby” makes us rush to the room and shut the other animals out and start the hamster hunt. We are currently looking for a screen that will fit snuggle and that we can secure were she can’t get it open!
